About RouterOS

RouterOS is a Linux-based operating system that lets users turn a particular PC-based machine into a software router. It supports multi-core and multi-CPU computers, allowing you to run it on the latest motherboards. You will need at least 64MB of free space to install RouterOS. It then formats your partition and becomes the default operating system. The system has firewall, VPN Server and Client, WiFi, and other features for linking different networks together. It can also be used as a captive-portal based hotspot system.

As a whole, it is supported by Mikrotik through a forum and a Wiki page that helps out with configurations.

Note: Support is offered to users who have purchased the OS, as well as a lengthy FAQ age that can be of help for trial users.
