About Orbit Downloader

Editors Review
Orbit Downloader is a very competent download manager and accelerator that makes use of both traditional methods of download acceleration - multiple connections and alternate mirrors - and a unique P2P method called Orbitnet. In practice, Orbitnet didn't really speed up our downloads all that much, but it's a useful feature to have especially for downloads that many users are likely to have stored on their hard drives. The star of the show, however, is Grab++, which lets you grab the video or audio files straight from a streaming service. Grab++ works very well on Firefox, and to some extent Internet Explorer, but alas, it doesn't work at all on Google Chrome.
Orbit Downloader is a free download manager for Microsoft Windows.

Like Free Download Manager and other similar software, Orbit Downloader accelerates downloads by making use of multiple connections to the same download server and by searching for alternate mirrors to the same file. It also allows for pausing and resuming of downloads. Unique to Orbit Downloader is its use of Orbitnet, a peer-to-peer network composed of Orbit users that makes use of spare bandwidth to accelerate downloads for other users.

Orbit Downloader's specialty is Grab++, a feature that grabs incoming files from video or music streaming sites, and makes them available for download. This is most useful when downloading videos from video sharing sites such as YouTube or Vimeo.

Orbit supports all major protocols, including HTTPS, FTP, and RTMP, and monitors all major browsers in use today, including Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer.
