About Daemon Tools Lite

Editors Review
As a disc imaging tool, Daemon Tools Lite's free nature automatically makes it a lot better than many competing applications simply because it offers most of what they offer at the vastly reduced price of free. Mounting virtual drives is also easy thanks to a great library interface. This remains a useful tool for people who want to store their CD catalogs. However, for people who just need to occasionally mount a disc image, Windows 8 onwards come with in-built ISO mounting, which may potentially supersede Daemon's most basic feature - though it doesn't seem as though MDX, MDF, or other formats are coming to Windows.

Daemon Tools Lite allows you to create virtual optical drives, into which you can mount disc images and run them as though they were real CDs.

This product emulates an optical drive that can "mount" optical media that has been converted into disc image files like .ISO files or the CloneCD standards. Daemon Tools can mount all major disc image formats, and create and use up to 4 DT, SCSI, and HDD devices at once.

Daemon Tools Lite also allows you to create MDX, MDS, and ISO files from your optical media, which you can save and mount in Daemon Tools itself or other software. You'll also get a well-organized disc image catalog that you can use as a library of your CDs or other media.
