After many years, the saga of Star Wars continues with its long-awaited 7th installment, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. This film takes place three decades after the events of The Return of the Jedi, with the New Republic having taken control of the galaxy in the wake of the Galactic Empire's destruction. Trouble brews with the rise of a new enemy, the First Order, a militant group that has risen from the ashes of the Empire, who seeks to destroy the New Republic with their planet-sized superweapon, Starkiller Base.

The film follows Rey, a young scavenger who is far more than meets the eye, and Finn, a former First Order Stormtrooper on the run from his former compatriots. Along the way, they meet Poe Dameron, a Resistance fighter pilot, and his droid companion BB-8. as well as veterans of the old war like Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. Together, they go up against the mysterious Kylo Ren, a powerful Force-sensitive warrior and commander of the First Order.

Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens features a star-studded cast with the return of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels among many others, as well as starring Daisy Ridley John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver as the newcomer stars of the franchise. The film is directed by JJ Abrams, known for his work in the new Star Trek films, Cloverfield, Mission Impossible, and the TV series Lost. Composer John Williams returns to score the franchise, having created the sweeping score and fanfare of the series since the first film.
